Mareike Christianson, WELL AP
Design Associate
Hi there!
My name is Mareike Christianson, Associate Interior Designer at Dahlia Design Remodel. I assist with design and administrative work, along with running the Dahlia Design blog page and social media platforms. I’m a WELL Accredited Professional who strives to bring personality and innovative ideas into my designs, which pairs with my love for nature-inspired color schemes.
If you’d asked ten-year-old me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I’d say I wanted to design hotels. Not your generic hotel, though, big ones with lots of flare, color, and visual intrigue. The Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells inspired my young inner artist to design fun, engaging spaces. I wanted to be the person that created fun family friendly attractions, because that’s where a sizeable amount of the core memories of my childhood derive from.
Originally from a small town in Central Wisconsin, the world was an open canvas for me to explore. After job shadowing one of my high school volleyball coaches, I realized that interior design was the right fit for me. Combining the functional and aesthetic needs that interior design requires brings many challenges, but they’re learning experiences I love to take on. In spring of 2024 I graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in interior design and a minor in art history. A few of my favorite design periods include Neoclassicism, Rococo, Baroque, Art Nouveau, and Art Deco.
Since starting at Dahlia Design, I’ve known from the start that this is where I want to stay. Residential design has always held a special place in my heart, and remodeling kitchens and bathrooms is a perfect fit for me! It is so fulfilling to create the perfect design for each client and watch them grow more excited about their project. Alycia and Jesse have helped me grow expontentially, both in the field of design and as an individual. Having mentors that are so deeply passionate about their work creates an uplifting environment both in the design studio and out in the field.
Outside of the design studio, you’ll probably find me at the farmer’s market, a museum, in a dance studio, or watching the Harry Potter movies while crocheting a blanket. I’ve been dancing for over 20 years at Heidi’s Dance Studio in Wausau and don’t plan on stopping any time soon!
