Bathroom Design Aesthetics
What does your aesthetic say about you?
With so many different options, how could we possibly whittle them down to our favorites? Luckily, we have a few standouts that appear to be the rave of the year. We’ve talked about bathroom trends before, but now we’re exploring the general aura and ‘vibe’ of your bathroom! This is often the starting point that deciphers what you truly want in your space. It’s important to understand your aesthetic so we can help shape your vision. Let’s get started.
First off, what is an aesthetic? According to the Merriam-Webster, an aesthetic is “a particular taste for or approach to what is pleasing to the senses and especially sight”. This means that everyone has interests in different aesthetics, because we all have our own personal preferences.
One of the most popular bathroom aesthetics currently includes cottagecore. Dashing accent walls are popular with this one, particularly using wallpaper to create a whimsical focus in the space. Although, we’ve found that wallpaper is more common in powder rooms where moisture is less likely to accumulate. If you like cottagecore, you may enjoy muted pastels, touches of vintage flare, and comforting nostalgic elements.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, we’ve got a modern edge. Modern aesthetics showcases sleek, crisp lines with a minimalist feel. This is likely demonstrated by using deeply contrasting white and dark colors. Modernization has reflected the draw toward open showers and floating vanities. If this aesthetic appeals to you, you may be drawn to a combination of simplicity and functionality, with a dislike for visual clutter and overuse of stimulating colors.
The botanical aesthetic is one you can’t miss. Warm neutrals and extensive uses of natural light come from our draw to nature. This may be considered the softer side of modern aesthetics if you think about it. Add a few plants, neutral colors and some biophilic green touches and voila, you’ve got yourself a botanical oasis. One may feel a heavy inspiration from nature if they prefer this aesthetic, along with a draw toward wood tones.
Our boldest choice is of course the glam aesthetic. Some rich color here and a bit of bling here will give you everything you need to make your bathroom marvelous. The heavy focus of glam remains on deep, dramatic colors and popping accents such as metallics or crystals. If you enjoy the pampered life, like to shop, or thrive from breaking the status quo, this is your vibe!
Lastly, we highlight the spa aesthetic. Taking solace in relaxation and comfort has never been more fashionable. With accents that allude to natural beauty and the flowing curves of rounded appliances, your bathroom can be turned into a personal sauna. We’re relaxing at the simple thought of it! If you’re someone who takes pride in self-care, finds solace in neutral colors and is drawn to warm light, we’ve found the perfect bathroom aesthetic for you.
There are so many more aesthetics to talk about, but these are Dahlia Design’s most sought-after design aesthetics. We greatly enjoy the range and differences in each of these options. If you had to pick one of these five choices, which one would be your favorite?
