Sinks and Sink Finishes of 2024
We’ve got composite votes about which sinks we think you’d like!
Sinks, like their faucet counterparts, can be both functional and beautiful at the same time. We’re all for making a statement, especially when it matches your need requirements. Which sink materials are booming these days? Which styles of sinks make for a statement piece in your kitchen or bathroom?
There are several materials to choose from when it comes to picking your perfect fit. Altogether, some of the most popular materials to choose from are composite, cast iron, stainless steel, fireclay, and porcelain.
Composite sinks are highly durable, resistant to scratches and stains, and are available in various colors. Cast iron is coated with enamel for a more traditional look while also being durable. Stainless steel is durable, easy to clean, and easily matches most other appliances. Fireclay, while similar to porcelain, is more durable and typically found in farmhouse style. Porcelain is classic and aesthetically pleasing but can chip or stain over time.
Dahlia Design’s preferences for sink materials include composite and cast iron for kitchen sinks, and porcelain for bathroom sinks.
Now that we’ve covered our popular sink materials, it’s time to pick our style! Starting in the kitchen, we have undermount sinks. This is Dahlia’s most popular sink style as it provides clean lines and a flawless look. Single bowl sinks make space utilization easy and practical. Farmhouse sinks are flourishing as usual, their eye-catching flare is unmistakable.
The most sought-after bathroom sinks once again include the classic undermount sink, along with a few others. Pedestal sinks are exemplary space savers for small bathroom setups. Trough sinks are beginning to spike as well, their wide expanse ideal for combining two or more faucet spaces. At Dahlia we have found that clients prefer rectangular sink basin shapes over ovular curves.

Workstation sinks have elevated their status in recent times as well. They are your typical kitchen sink with added ledges to apply accessories, such as cutting boards, drying racks, and other food prep additions. While they are ideal for maximizing space and adding personal touches, they can grow significantly more expensive.
There you have it, folks! You’re now sink style and material experts. How will you use your new knowledge to pick your perfect remodel appliance?
